Wait, what month is it? Oh yeah, April. Honestly, January and February were filled with some really… mentionable releases. Whether they were really good or really bad, almost every song on this list had to be mentioned for one reason or another. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity and let 2014’s start K-pop music fly by! Enjoy the joint January and February edition of The K-pop Round Up!
Nothing like good ol’ Brown Eyed Girls to ease the pain of mainstream K-pop. You all should know that BEG is one of my all-time favorite girl groups. This group embodies everything great that K-pop has to offer. None of the hard dance tracks, flashy lights, or ridiculous get-ups can challenge the talent that oozes out of the pores of each member of this group. Guess what, guys!? K-pop songs can have meaning and they can feel like you’re listening to an actual song rather than a mish-mash of electro beats & beeps. Brown Eyed Girls prove that no matter the age, any hard-working, talented artist can make it for as long as they want in the Korean music business. Black Box is BEG’s 5th studio album and was released on July 29th, 2013. My favorite tracks are italicized.
Well it’s about damn time! January was a month of resolutions but not much of the month for some good K-pop. Kio’s back for a vengeance with this comeback post of The K-pop Round Up!
Unfortunately, my end-of-the-year posts have to bleed into 2013(something I really didn’t want to do). But, due to my extremely busy winter break, it just happened this way. Thank you, Rican family. Anyway, this is a new piece of my end-of-the-year collection. It takes a very special song to break into my Top 25, so this is why I’ve decided to make it a yearly thing. Don’t expect grave detail about each song(25 is a lot. guys), but I thought it would be cool to compare to your own and see how different our tastes might be! Without further ado, my Top 25 Most Played Songs of 2012!
Back so soon? Yesterday, I brought to you my favorite J-pop songs of 2012. Today, I’ll be bringing you the K-pop counterpart. Last year, my list was definite and I had no doubts doing it. However, this year I gathered a total of 30 songs altogether that I enjoyed! I was sure I was going to explode making this list. But here it is, my Top 10 Favorite K-pop Songs of 2012.
There seems to be this lovely, civilized debate circulating the K-pop universe that is comparing Ga In’s Bloom to Hyun Ah’s Ice Cream. Oh, did I say civilized? I meant, war zone between the “slut-shamers” and the “whore praisers.” It has irked my nerves more than the netizens accusing T-ara of bullying Hwayoung. It’s time for the shit to STOP.
Oh. My. God. It has literally been almost a year since I posted a Top! Series post @__@ That makes me sad. That should make you sad, too. But no worries, my friends! Today, I will be posting the twelfth edition of Top! Series! Here you have my Favorite Female K-pop Groups & Artists…of all time~!
Hello, my k-netizens! My blog, for the longest, has been J-pop orientated–even more-so Hello! Project. H!P was the thing that got me into J-pop and I feel as though H!P news is the easiest to find the past few years–what lacks is some good opinions, which is why I created this blog. Even though there are big J-pop orientated websites that cover popular artists like Hamasaki, NEWS, etc. etc., I feel like they focus on a much broader stage rather than the artists’ music–which is crap I don’t really give a shit about half the time. On a different note, I’ve been much more involved in different Korean artists and am always broadening my listening range
(sometimes). Plus, I’ve always wanted to expand my demographic of readers to K-pop lovers, being a K-pop lover myself. So, enough of this rambling and let me get down to business.
Instead of going crazy keeping up with billions of debut groups in one week, I’m going to wrap up everything that happened in the past month in one post. Yeah, yeah, I know it’s already the first few days of March but IDGAF! Now, I most likely won’t be going track-by-track through all the albums/mini-albums, but I’ll definitely be commenting on the promotional videos. I might not fit in every single new release of the month because it might not appeal to me very much, but I will try my best to fit as much as I can! Come aboard with me on this bumpy, long, time-consuming ride called The K-pop Round Up! :D
K-pop has been on the rise lately. I try my best to be a faithful fan, although you won’t see me around any forums or allkpop.com. I can’t really indulge into the fan universe of K-pop–the hardcore fanbase isn’t really, well…nice. So, because of this, most of the time I’m fairly late on certain releases–even for the artists I really love. Like I promised, today I will be going through my top 10 favorite K-pop songs of 2011!
