It’s finally time for the big, hearty update for our girls at Hello! Pro! The week starts out strong for Morning Musume, even though I’m not all that impressed by the early releases of 2013…
Morning Musume’s January 23rd release of Help me!! charted at #1 on the Oricon Daily Charts. It sold a whopping 61,291 copies on its first day. This is quite a feat for Morning Musume. Not only did they beat out very popular artists like Super Junior K.R.Y. and AAA, but this is the first time since Seishun Collection that they were able to reach the #1 spot. Also, this is the best first day sales since 2003. Keep in mind, their other great seller, One.Two.Three / The Matenrou Show, reached over 100,000 sales in its first week. The single dropped to #4 on Jan 24th but was able to climb back up throughout the rest of the week. With the amount of sales after the first day, it doesn’t seem likely that the single will break 100,000 in the first week.
Above is the cover to Sayumi Michishige’s photobook, Mille-Feuille. It will release on January 27th, 2013(literally today in Japanese time). The cover is very clean and subtle. I’m not really feeling the bathing suit; I wish they gave her something much more flattering on top. Unfortunately, we don’t get the same wacky, fantasy, whimsical fun that was Sayuminglandoll. The photobook seems to have much more of a mature, womanly feel–which is suitable considering Sayu-hime is 23 years-old. You can check out a few previews here.
Berryz Koubou’s 9th album, Berryz Mansion 9kai, is set to release on January 30th, 2013. The first track might be a promotional track considering the DVD will have solo shots of the song. The tracklisting and a preview is below.

Above is the 2013 version of Berryz’ debut single which will be featured on their 9th album. My god. The memories just pour in all at once. Not only is this the most gangster debut single ever, but jesus, do you hear the difference? I was hoping the backing vocals would lay off more, but it ends up pretty similar to the original. Either way, you can hear how mature and deeper they sound compared to their debut. Miyabi probably has the biggest transformation. She’s now much more stable and in control of her voice. All of the girls sound absolutely amazing. I can’t believe it’s been 9 years. These girls have grown up so much…
Erina Mano’s first and only best-of album, BEST FRIENDS, is set to release on February 6th, 2013–a date dangerously close to her official depart. The quiet, sweet covers are in great comparison of her previous album covers. Not to mention, she looks so much more mature and beautiful. Hopefully all the Mano fans can reserve her last Hello! Project release. I’m honestly excited to see what she does beyond Hello! Project…

Apparently, Peaberry are releasing another single entitled Cabbage Hakusho~ Haru Hen~. What about spring chickens? Anyway, I haven’t heard any previews but I’m guessing it’s a remixed or different version of the original Cabbage Hakusho. Welp. It’ll release on February 27th.
In other news, there are less than 4 months until Reina Tanaka’s depart…
